2024/2025 Season Launch

Announcing 24/25’s Feature Production:

We’re thrilled to announce that our featured production for our 24/25 season will be the world-premiere of Sinkhole (or six ways to disappear) by local playwright Adjani Poirier, a recent graduate from the National Theatre School of Canada’s playwriting program.

A sinkhole cracks open below an apartment building, and a beloved community member goes missing. Through the interwoven stories of an intergenerational community Sinkhole (or six ways to disappear) explores the human subconscious, the fear of disappearing and the strength of a working-class community.

Projects in Development:

Infinithéâtre is an essential home for new play creation in the heart of Montreal, and we have two unique collaborations that will be developed throughout our 24/25 season.

Whalefall - On May 30th 2020, Montrealers woke to an improbable and magical sight. Between the iconic clock tower and île Sainte-Hélène, a fluke broke the waters of the St-Lawrence, announcing the arrival of a young humpback whale that had traveled over 400 km upriver. Her arrival uplifted the city in a time of isolation. Part documentary theatre, part puppet show, Whalefall examines the complexities of culture, community, and the bonds that unite us. This original creation in development is being co-written by Ashe Lang and Riley Wilson, and will be directed by Zach Fraser.

NOLI, by Virginie Daigle, is a delightfully bold pearl of a play that first premiered in French at Théâtre Prospéro in 2022. The team at Infinithéâtre were instantly charmed. Turns out our friends at Talisman were too! So now, in partnership with Talisman Theatre, Infinithéâtre will be commissioning an English-language translation of this little gem with hopes for a production in the near future.

New InfiniPRESS titles:

Following our recent success with Michaela Di Cesare’s Extra/Beautiful/U, presented as Centaur Theatre’s Brave New Looks selection for 23/24, Extra/Beautiful/U will be our first play to go straight from production into publication.

As we expand our reach with InfiniPRESS and open our horizons to include plays produced outside Infinithéâtre, we’re happy to announce the upcoming publication of King Dave in an English translation, as presented in 2023 at the Centaur Theatre. Originally written in French by Alexandre Goyette, then adapted in collaboration with Anglesh Major, and eventually translated to English by Patrick Emmanuel Abellard, King Dave is a tour de force; great storytelling by a fierce team of Montréal artists.

Readings + Playwriting Competitions:

Our fall 2024 activities will centre around our 2 play reading series’; Park ‘N Play, our annual open-air reading series featuring short works by youth ages 12-19 selected from The-Write-Stuff, our youth playwriting competition, and The Pipeline, our annual full-length play reading series featuring the top picks from our ever-popular Write-on-Q playwriting competition.
