An English-language premiere
Proudly co-produced by Infinithéâtre and Talisman Theatre

Julian, an out-of-work actress, earns her living as a daycare educator. Between auditions and lacklustre intimate encounters, she finds solace in the stories she invents and tells to the children under her care. When she discovers NOLI, a feminist audio erotica app, her life is turned upside down. This fictional universe opens her mind to new and unprecedented perspectives. She becomes aware of the benefits of addressing adults as children and children as adults — with sincerity, patience and humility.

NOLI explores themes of sexuality, intimacy, and finding one’s authentic self. Playwright Virginie Daigle’s intention is to demonstrate the importance of open and honest communication, setting boundaries, and pursuing relationships and experiences that align with one’s values and desires. It encourages us to listen to our innermost needs and to create spaces where we can express ourselves freely without shame or judgment. It celebrates erotic art and sex-positivity as a vehicle for empowerment.

Following a workshop of the English-language translation by Alexis Diamond, Infinithéâtre and Talisman are energized to see this pearl of a play bloom to life once again in this English-language premiere.
